ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The Pennsylvania State University at Harrisburg, School of Science, Engineering and Technology, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology, with a Fall Semester 2018 starting date. We are seeking exceptional candidates in all areas of Mechanical Engineering.
Candidates should be qualified to teach courses in the core curriculum of a mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering technology programs. Candidates are expected to engage in research and scholarly activities, participate in school/College/University and professional service, assist with ABET accreditation processes, and advise students. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required. Preference will be given to candidates with industrial expertise and teaching experience. PE license is a plus. The College offers ABET-accredited BS degree programs in CE, EE, EET, ME, MET, and SDCET, in addition to several graduate degree programs. COUNSELOR (ACADEMIC COUNSELOR)
Coordinate the academic support and counseling services for assigned sport teams. Track and monitor academic progress and eligibility according to NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and University regulations. Teach in the Penn State Alumni Association First-Year Enrichment Program (first-year seminar course). Regularly communicate student-athlete academic progress to coaching staff, administration, and the Director of the Morgan Academic Center. Meet with prospective student-athletes as required. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Director. Experience in academic counseling or academic support services and general knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and University academic policies preferred. Weekend and evening work hours will be required. Position must maintain strict adherence to NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations affecting the sport and the University. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counselor education, college student personnel, psychology, social work, education, higher education administration, or related discipline or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
